We made it to our 100th day of homeschool!  Of course that meant a celebration was in order.  There are so many great ideas out there for things you can do to celebrate the 100th day of school...I just made a list and we got started.

We began the morning by reading Psalm 100.  It was great to spend a  few minutes reading the passage and talking about it.  We even took the opportunity to think about some of the songs that have been inspired by the passage...though Natalie was quick to ask me to stop singing as I burst into song throughout the morning.  What can I say, music is my soul and I just can't resist a good reason to sing. :)

We wrote the numbers up through 100...here is a picture of Natalie's.  She wanted to make hers in a rainbow pattern with markers.  Levi was content to pencil his onto the chart and move on.  Ha!

We also put stickers on a 100's chart...and once again, Natalie formed a pretty pattern while Levi decided it best if he placed his stickers in the shape of Wall-E, the robot.  Not exactly covering all 100 numbers with his 100 stickers, but fun nonetheless.

We also made hats to wear...adorable.  They both worked very hard to decorate their hats.  I appreciated Natalie's cooperation since several of our 100 Day activities were a little on the young side for her.  She jumped in without complaining though, even sporting her hat for a while.  She's a trooper!

Later in the morning, we made a big poster listing out 100 things we are thankful for.  It was fun to hear the things that the kids wanted included on the list.  The first 30 or so were super easy...they were calling them out faster than I could write them.  The last 20, though, were more difficult and took more thought.  Some of the things they called out were repeats, so we would have to dig a little deeper to complete our list.  Here is a picture of our poster...

Some of the things that made the list include:

family
my sister's new baby goat (Natalie even helped to bottle feed her!)
Mrs. Judy, Natalie's riding coach, and all of the horses
the Dollar Movie
binnoculars
doctors and dentists (I was impressed they wanted these included!)

...and MUCH, MUCH more!

We topped off the school day with yummy sugar free sno-cones.  I'd say it doesn't get much ymmier than that.

It was loads of fun to celebrate the milestone of 100 days of homeschool. All year long we had been adding stickers to a chart, helping us to count the days.  It was fun to achieve the goal, and to spend some time celebrating.  Now, we are looking towards the summer.  The children are beginning to finish some of their curriculum, and we can definitely see the light at the end of the tunnel.  Thay have both completed their handwriting workbooks, and Levi has also completed his reading curriculum.  Natalie has a little over a week left and she will officially be through with her Math.  By then end of April, most everything will be complete and we will be celebrating our first homeschool year's completion.

What a wonderful feeling to know we are following God's call for our family...home educating and being blessed on the journey.  Thank you, God, for the gift of learning together!

In other news, we have been doing some spring beautification around our house.  We have a workshop in the backyard that has always felt blah to me...not somewhere that I wanted to hang out.  With a tiny bit of money, and a LOT of sweat equity, we have turned that space into something nice...a place where we can sit and enjoy the beautiful weather God has been blessing us with.  Here is a before picture of the front of the building:

And no, here is what it looks like now!

We added some landscaping edger and mulch, and then just a few flowers.  Wow, what a difference already.  I still have some more ideas to spruce the place up a little more.  For now though, until the budget allows us to do some more, we will enjoy the big difference our work has made!  And to top it all off, it was great time spent as a family, working together! :)
