Everything Under the Son

Thankful
Sunday, November 30, 2008
Over the last week, I have thought many times about the things I am thankful for. There are so many, many things, that to try and make a list seems impossible! I am truly blessed, and I hope that I never forget that ALL of the blessings, each and every one, are from my loving Heavenly Father.
I have been trying to figure out a way to change my heart; a way that I can leave behind the sinfulness of greed and 'always-wanting-more-itis', a condition I seem to suffer from frequently. I want to seek out a way to find thankfulness in all things...to be thankful for each and every moment, breath, good or bad. I thought about making a book or list of the things I am thankful for, but I have tried that once before and didn't stick with it. What about you...what do you do to remind yourself daily, maybe even moment by moment, that thankfulness is a state of being? Share your tips...I am earnestly seeking this mindset.
On a little different note, last night we celebrated Hope's 4th birthday...her fourth birthday in Heaven. We sang to her, and of course wrote our notes of love on pink balloons and sent them up to her. Natalie was just sure that God was going to reach His hand down and grab them up for Hope! As I thought about her comment, I thought about myself as a parent. How I always want to reach out and grab the best of life for my kids. Then I thought about God, and how He must feel the same way about me. He wants to reach out and give the best things to me, I just have to let Him! Lord, I want you to be my Father...giver of ALL good things!
I hope you had a special time giving thanks this week! I am looking towards Christmas and the celebration of Jesus' birth! What a wonderful season!

Name-Calling
Tuesday, November 18, 2008
Do you call yourself names? I do. Do you remember names that others have called you? Me, too. Do those names echo in your mind, and sometimes even in your heart? Yes, that too. Please hop over and read the words Ann has shared with us today about name-calling. You will be so glad you took the time to read it.

I decided that I would share our proposal story! It is a day I will never forget! Since I have never documented it here, I thought it would be a good idea. If you already know the story, don't feel obligated to keep reading. However, if you want a good 'make a tear fall from your eye' proposal story, then keep reading.
Nathaniel and I had been dating for about 4 months. He had accompanied me to the doctor for a check-up, and then we had stopped by the great Wal*Mart to pick up some toilet paper - I HATE to run out of toilet paper, and needed some for my apartment :) On the way back across town, I got a call about a great garage sale, so I drug Nathaniel into this indoor mega garage sale, where the temperature was approximately 287*! I was miserable hot!! When we finally left the garage sale, he said he wanted to drive around a little..."Sure," I said. As long as the A/C was working in his truck, I was happy to drive around a little. We drove a bit, and then ended up outside the chapel at HSU. I had always wanted to go inside, so I figured we were going to take a peek. No such luck, the doors were locked. In the parking lot, Nathaniel pulled out a big box for me...a gift. Some time before, I had asked him to make me a cross out of some old barn wood to add to my collection. Sure enough, inside the box was the cross, complete with tiny silver charms on the front. So sweet, I thought, giving me the cross at the chapel. Then I turned it over and read what he had written on the back,

"2000 years ago, a cross held God's gift of love.
Today, this cross holds my gift of love to you."
Today, this cross holds my gift of love to you."
He had to clue me in, but when I took the two pieces of wood apart, there was a hollowed-out spot where the cross pieces actually cross. Inside, he had hidden my ring! AMAZING!
Mind you, we had never gone ring shopping. I was always of the mind-set that I wanted to be surprised. I wanted the man to pick out the ring HE wanted me to have, and that he would know when the right time was to propose. I wanted to completely shocked...and boy was I!
So there you have it...I said 'YES!' and the rest is history!
I love my man...God picked him just for me. We have been through a lot in our marriage. Cancer, infertility, miscarriage, stillbirth, 2 healthy children...and we are stronger for it! I thank God for Nathaniel every day...and if we ever have to leave our house in a hurry, you can bet that cross is on my list of 'must takes'!
What about you? What's your proposal story?

7 X 7
Saturday, November 08, 2008
You can now see that I have added the 7 X 7 Prayer button on the left hand side of my blog. Actually, my tech savvy hubby did it for me...thanks honey! I have printed out the prayers with some fun colored border and will laminate them tomorrow after church. I plan to strategically hang them around the house so I can be sure to have them when I need them! I cannot wait to begin praying more of God's Word over my children each day. I really hope you will all join me...what could be more important?
Seven a day, for Seven days

Hello fellow mommies! I found this amazing post by Angie, and think we should all do this together! Seven prayers each day, prayed over our children...let's do it! I can't think of anything more important than praying over our kiddos, and these prayers are amazing! Check it out, and let me know what you think!!
