More Goodwill Goodness...and Something on the List

Monday, January 10, 2011

Goodwill rocks!  And they aren't paying me to say that, though I wish they were! :)  In our little town, there are several Goodwill locations, though I rarely make it to any except the one closest to our home.  Saturday, though, we were in another part of town, so we swung into the newly opened Goodwill outlet store.  I hit the JACKPOT!  Here is what I got my hands on...

2 pair of Justice brand jeans that look brand new
1 pair of Mossimo brand jeans
3 tunic style tops for Natalie to wear with leggings
1 sweater

If you are doing the math, that is 7 items.  My grand total at check-out?  Brace yourself...$3.77.  Yes, you read that right...I paid $3.77 for seven items, making my per-item average 54 cents.

I LOVE a good deal!

In other news, I have started making a little list of things I want to do with the kids this year.  I am a list maker, it's what I do.  Don't hate.  Anyway, I decided that writing some of these things down might help me to remember them when we have some free time.  On the list...taking my kids to the "cow sale".  At least that is what I called it growing up.  You might know it better as the cattle auction.  I can vividly remember going with my grandparents to the cow sale many times as a child.  I loved going, and just thinking about those memories makes me smile.  Someday we hope to live in the country on our very own farm, complete with cows and chickens, and a horse for Natalie.  Until then, though I don't have a purchasing reason to be at the sale, I want my kids to experience it.  All of it.  The smell of dirt and cows and manure...yes, even manure.  I want them to experience the sights...the cowboys, farmers and ranchers, the cows with their number stickers sloppily glued on their behinds.  The sounds of the auctioneer talking 100 mph, and the subtle gestures from buyers making their bid.  All of it.  I remember all of it, and I know walking in the door is going to transport me back a few years to the days when going was a fun treat.

I can't wait!  What's on your list?

Going to the cattle auction sounds like great fun! Take them to the stock show too! They could see Kauy and Makaley show their pigs. It is great fun!!!

LOL! I don't yet know what all is on our list but a "cow show" certainly isn't! :)
