A Step Back in Time

We took our day trip to see my parents and visit the Log Cabin Village in Ft. Worth. What a great way to spend a couple of hours...and all for the low price of $4.50 admission.

It was fabulous. We were able to walk through several old log cabins and hear all about life as a settler. They have people stationed in each cabin to give you some great historical information. It was great because they gave interesting facts, and they gave just enough to keep the kids attention (well, Levi would have liked us to move a little faster, but he's three!).

There was one cabin that was full of stuff...all of it hands-on. They encouraged the kids to put on the dress up clothes and spend some time playing with all of the goodies. They had tables and chairs, an old rope bed, pots and pans, an iron and old ironing wood. Then in the backyard there was a chicken coop with stuffed chickens and eggs you could gather. There was also a water pump where the kids could pump water, a raised garden bed with tools (this is where Levi spent most of his time), and even grinding stones complete with corn kernels and wheat berries where the kids could grind their own flour and cornmeal.

Here are some pictures from our great day! If you ever get a chance...get yourself and your kids to the Log Cabin Village!

Levi was working in the garden...raised bed gardening to be exact!

Natalie all dressed up! She looks great as a pioneer girl..so natural.

Happy kids.
