Sunday, November 8 - Today I am thankful for my dining table. If you were to look at it, you wouldn't find anything special - a light oak table with four legs, and lots of nicks all over the top. Many days it is covered with various piles of stuff; craft stuff, mail stuff, paperwork stuff, bill stuff, toy stuff, I just cleaned out the car stuff...you name it, it is probably there somewhere. But that isn't what I love about the table. No, it's not that. Each day, towards the end of the afternoon, I work to find the surface of that table. Some days that is easier said than done, but I work to find it. Each evening, with a few exceptions, my family gathers around that table to share a meal. The kids help me to set the table, and we all take our places to eat. We pray together, and then spend the next few minutes laughing, crying, talking, and sharing about our days. It is priceless. After the meal is done, we have started a new tradition of feasting on God's Word. I purchased four small Bibles all the same translation, and they are housed in a box on the table as our centerpiece. We take turns reading aloud from scripture, and my children LOVE it! We feed our bodies, we feed our minds, and we feed our souls at that table...and I am thankful for it.

Monday, November 9 - I am so thankful for my laptop. I do lots of things on this little piece of technology. Work, school, fun, arts and crafts, connecting with friends and family...the list could go on and on! Suffice it to say, I am thankful for it! :)

Those are two of my faves, as well. And my dining room table? Currently COVERED -- and my laptop is one of the things blessing it at the moment! :-)

I just wrote an article for our school newsletter talking about the research behind eating together as a family! So simple, but SOOOOOOO important! We try to as well, but during football, Jason doesn't get home until 7 or later and we're hungry about 5:30 or 6:00. :)
