Today is the Day

** I wrote this post last night, but published it this morning, and it is stuck with the wrong date on it. All references for "today" are for Friday! Silly blogger!**
Well, it's here! The big day...but it feels like any other day. Yep, today is my birthday, and thankfully I don't really feel any older than I did yesterday. It's funny how time changes things. Don't get me wrong, I love my birthday, and it is a great day, but when we were kids, there was an excitement about the day that seems to fade with time. Maybe it was because we were excited to be the new special number...you know, we couldn't wait to be ten (double digits!) or thirteen (officially a teenager!), or sixteen (able to drive a car!). But the older I get, the less exciting the numbers become. It seems more about the memories and the special time spent with those I care about, and less about the actual number. I guess that is a good thing.
After Carson was born, Nathaniel and I heard a powerful saying that has really stuck with us:
Life is not measured by the number of breaths we take,
but by the moments that take our breath away!
but by the moments that take our breath away!
As today marks another year of life for me, another breath, it also marks so many other things. It is a reminder of my many blessings...a husband who loves me unconditionally, children sent to me straight from Heaven, another year of life after cancer and cancer free, family and friends around me, hope of a life in Heaven FOREVER, God's goodness at every turn.
So today, as I turn one year older, I will give thanks for all of these many blessings. I will give thanks for life, and love, and grace, and forgiveness. I will give thanks for Jesus...He is, after all, the reason for living!

Happy birthday Anne! May this year be a year full of blessings on you and your family!
First you notice that birthdays are not that important anymore.
Then you forget your birthdays.
Then you forget how old you are. In essence, you become timeless.
It's all good. ;-)
Belated Bappy Hirthday!
