Everything Under the Son

Because JESUS is my everything

4th of July...Independence Day

We've got ourselves a winner!

Being the small town, country girl that I am, we headed out to Buffalo Gap for their Fourth of July parade! This is the second year we have gone, and we love it! After the parade, there is a reading of the Declaration of Independence, and the bell is rung as each state is announced in the order they joined the union. It is such fun!

This year, Natalie decided she wanted to ride her tricycle in the parade, so last night we decorated! It was amazing what a few pinwheels, shiny streamer things, and a glue gun could accomplish! As you can see in the picture, it turned out great. This morning we donned our red, white and blue, and away we went! In the end, Natalie won first place! She was so excited and proud of her first place blue ribbon and cash prize!

Happy Birthday America!

One other note...we found another teachable moment, which we love! I am sure you can't read it in the picture, but the front of Natalie's shirt says, "Born to be Free!". Natalie was asking us what that meant. Nathaniel explained to her that first, we were born to be free because God sent Jesus to die for us, so we could be free to live with Him in Heaven forever. She added to the discussion by saying that Jesus died for our sins...wiped them clean! Then he said we were also free because we live in America...a place where we are free to worship God and love him openly!

I just love teachable moments, especially ones where we can reinforce God's never ending love and faithfulness to us, his children!

And I am so thankful we are "Born to be Free!" Praise God!

Of COURSE she won -- she was the cutest doodlebug there is! I'm sorry we missed that!

If the Son sets us free, we are free indeed! John 8:36! Praise!

Miss Pam says "Congratulations, Natalie Anne!" I had no doubt that your mom would have you dressed in red, white & blue & the tricycle to be the most creative.
